At the core of our church life is our personal relationship with Christ. This relationship is developed the same way every relationship is developed—by spending time with God. The best place to talk to God, and hear Him talk to us, is by daily reading His Scriptures. Would a genuine follower do anything less? As a follower of Jesus, before you do anything else, work on and develop your personal time with God. Jesus said “… apart from Me, you can do nothing…” (John 15:5) Paul said, “…I can do all things through Christ…”  It is our observation that Scripture reading with Jesus is central to a successful life.  Check out these passages as they encourage the daily reading of God’s Word: Isaiah 50:4-5 NLT, Psalms 2:2-3 MSG, Psalms 119:15-16 MSG, Psalms 119:148-149 NLT, Joshua 18 NLT.

We use a simple acronym to help guide us as we daily read Scripture, S.O.A.P.  Many have been greatly helped as they have read the Bible in this way. We believe and hope you will too.

Scripture—Select a Scripture daily, we suggest that you read with the rest of the fellowship by selecting the one from the "Devotional Experience."

Observation—Take time to observe what the text is saying. Notice especially a verse that leaps out at you. Ask God questions about the passage, see if He will provide an insight, a way of seeing or understanding something that you have never seen before. Write the insight down in a journal.

Application—Ask God what He wants you to do in response to what you have read. What action might He want you to take? Then write it down in your journal along with your insights.

Prayer—Finally, and most important, ask for God’s help, or grace to do what He is asking of you. Here is where we learn to walk in His power.
